For engineers, scientists & technical leads

We write your SR&ED technical report.

Work directly with an engineering-led team that understands technical development. We lead the interviews, assess the supporting records, and write the report for your review.

Getting started

A technical conversation, followed by a report we write.

The interview follows the engineering: the problem, the knowledge available at the start, the approaches tested, and the conclusions. Our team asks the technical questions and identifies the potential SR&ED within the wider project.

We review design documents, test results, code history, and other project records with the people who know them. Then we write the technical report, including the uncertainty, investigation, and advancement.

Your review focuses on technical accuracy. We work through your feedback, make the revisions, and connect the report with the claim’s time allocations and costs. The same claim team handles questions if CRA reviews the work.

Working together

We handle the assessment and writing

A senior preparer leads the technical work and stays accountable through the claim and any audit.

What Cedar handles

Technical assessment

We lead the interviews, assess eligibility, and define the SR&ED projects and periods to include in the claim.

Evidence and report preparation

We organise the supporting records, identify gaps, and write the technical descriptions for Form T661. The Cedar platform keeps the reports and source material together.

Revisions and audit response

We incorporate your technical feedback and prepare the final report. Full audit support includes technical responses and meetings with reviewers.

Your team’s input

Technical knowledge

The people who designed the approaches or ran the tests explain the decisions and results. We involve other contributors where their knowledge is needed.

Project records

Make the relevant development records available, including unsuccessful approaches and results. We identify the material needed to support the report.

Report review

Read the draft for technical accuracy, scope, and dates. We handle the writing and revisions; your team confirms that it reflects the work.

Our success-based fees mean we share the risk and upside of your claim. Your senior preparer’s compensation is tied to the outcome, and full audit support is included.

Getting ready

Use your existing project material

There’s no report to write before the interview. Have the records available that explain the investigation and its results.

Discuss your claim

Useful starting points

  • The technical objective and constraints
  • The approaches considered and knowledge available at the start
  • Designs, tests, analysis, and results
  • Records of decisions and changes in direction
  • The contributors and periods involved
The process

How we prepare your claim

  1. Identify the work

We choose the projects and contributors for the technical assessment.

  2. Discuss the investigation

We lead an interview around the approaches, tests, results, and project records.

  3. Write the report

We assess the evidence and prepare the technical descriptions.

  4. Review and finalise

Your team checks the technical accuracy. We revise the report and complete the claim.

Questions

Before we begin

Does our team have to write the report?
Cedar writes it. Your technical contributors take part in the interviews, provide project records, and review the draft. We manage follow-up questions and revisions.
Can unsuccessful work qualify?
Yes. An unsuccessful experiment can still be part of eligible SR&ED. We assess whether the work sought scientific or technological advancement through systematic experiment or analysis, and review the evidence of that investigation.
What if our records are incomplete?
We review the available material and identify what it supports. Interviews can explain the context, and records in different systems may fill some gaps. We flag any remaining limits before recommending what to include in the claim.
