SR&ED for growing systems and agricultural technology.
Agricultural development has to account for biological variation, operating conditions and the limits of a growing season. Cedar works through the trials with your team and turns the experimental history into a technical report and a reconciled financial claim.
Keep the trial connected to its growing conditions.
A trial can span plots, crop cycles or different system configurations. We follow the treatment plan and environmental records to understand the comparisons being made and the scientific or technological problem behind them.
Your agronomist, grower or technology lead provides the project knowledge. Cedar organizes the investigation, identifies the claim scope and connects the work with staff time, inputs and other project costs.
Illustrative examples
Development problems worth a closer look
These hypothetical examples show how a technical problem can lead to experimental work. We assess your project using its actual starting knowledge, investigation and records.
Nutrient delivery in a recirculating system
Development challenge
A proposed growing system produces inconsistent root responses as nutrient delivery and oxygen conditions change. Established methods do not explain those interactions well enough to establish a reliable operating approach.
Experimental work
Trials compare delivery schedules and system configurations while recording root observations and growing conditions. Treatment groups and repeated measurements help test explanations for the response and guide the next crop cycle.
Crop measurements in changing field conditions
Development challenge
A crop-sensing system needs reliable measurements as canopy cover, lighting and soil background change. Those conditions produce measurement errors that existing calibration methods cannot resolve.
Experimental work
Experiments compare sensor arrangements and processing methods against reference measurements. Error patterns across the recorded conditions test the causes of unreliable readings and inform hardware or algorithm revisions.
Claim strategy
Define the work and the costs.
We separate the investigation from ordinary growing operations, standard agronomic adjustments and routine field measurements. Trials that compare established products or treatments need to be distinguished from work seeking new scientific or technological knowledge.
Cedar reconciles the project costs with your financial records and documents the allocations used in the claim.
Identify each plot, crop cycle or system configuration consistently. That lets us connect a measurement to the treatment applied and the resources used.
Treatment groups, controls, sampling plans and the reasons for changing the trial.
Growing records
Plot or crop-cycle identifiers, input logs and relevant environmental measurements.
Measurements and analysis
Raw observations, sampling methods, comparisons and conclusions from the trials.
People and inputs
Staff activity, material and input use, contractor invoices and the related financial records.
Working with Cedar
A senior preparer leads your whole claim.
We handle the claim strategy, technical reports, financial reconciliation, tax schedules and filing coordination. Our fees are tied to the outcome of your claim, and full CRA audit and provincial review support is included.
1
Set the claim strategy
We speak with the people who did the work, review the development records and identify the projects and costs to assess.
2
Write and reconcile
We write the technical reports, reconcile expenditures to your accounts and prepare the federal and applicable provincial tax schedules. Your team provides the records and reviews the completed claim for approval.
3
Coordinate filing and handle reviews
We coordinate the claim filing with your accountant, who files the corporate T2 return. If the claim is reviewed, we prepare technical and financial responses, attend meetings and coordinate with your team and accountant.
A practical way to connect design notes, test results, project time, and costs using the records your team already creates.
